Choosing the Right Materials for Your Outdoor Countertops
Since outdoor kitchen counters are constantly exposed to the elements, it’s important to select a material that won’t fade or deteriorate over time. While aesthetics matter, durability should always be the first priority. This is what makes natural stone an ideal choice! Not only is natural stone durable, but it has a timeless beauty that looks amazing in any living space.
Granite is an excellent choice for outdoor kitchen stone countertops because it doesn’t absorb odors or stains easily, and it won’t experience any fading. Quartzite is also a great option for outdoor countertops because it has similar properties to granite and is very durable. Both options are also easy to clean and maintain. We don’t recommend quartz because the pigments aren’t designed to stand up to outdoor use and may fade or discolor over time due to UV exposure.
As with our kitchen countertops and bathroom vanities, we offer many different styles, colors, and edges. You have the option of choosing just stone, or stone with tile. We carry a wide selection of tile in a wide variety of colors, shapes, sizes, and finishes to appeal to any taste.
After selecting your materials, we’ll either create a base, work with your existing base, or work with your contractor. Then, we’ll create a template for the countertops and work on the fabrication. Fabrication generally takes 7-10 business days after the template has been designed and approved. Once the countertop is complete, we’ll return to install it. Keep in mind that BBQ counters take longer than most of our projects due to factors like irregular shape cut-outs and non-standard widths.
